Kennesaw Georgia Real Estate Kennesaw Georgia is located in northwest Cobb County and was incorporated in the 1830’s. Kennesaw was originally called Big Shanty, and during the Civil the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain took place there.
Today, Kennesaw is home to The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History. The museum is the home of “The General “ one of the famous locomotives used in Andrew’s Raid in the 1860’s.
In 1982 Kennesaw passed it’s famous gun ordinance that stated that every head of household must own a firearm with ammunition. In 1983 Kennesaw passed an amendment to the ordinance that said that those that conscientiously objected to owing a firearm, convicted felons, and those that were mentally or physically handicapped were exempt from the ordinance. The 2005 census says that Kennesaw has a population of around 30,522 and is growing steadily. Kennesaw is serviced by the Cobb County School System. RETURN TO HOME PAGE
